I am absolutely overwhelmed. And if I am, I cannot comprehend the feelings of others. I am young, and naive, but I can say that over this last month I have learned that I love Avery. And the actions and blog that have been made in her name are frankly extraordinary. I do not have a lot of money, as a student, but I have donated what I can.

It was a desperate gesture. I am stunned by the fact that she is now gone. And now, seeing all the names on this website, I am hit by so many more blows and an overwhelming feeling that the world has less than before.

Avery will save lives. So, so many. I will not forget SMA. And I can’t forget Avery, because to me she’s still so very alive.

There’s something about children that is so wise. I child can channel a message to all demographics, from all walks of life.

I have a 15 month old daughter and this could have happened to me or any of us because people aren’t informed, so, I have tried to spread her story to help others. I first leaned about SMA thirteen years ago when my cousin’s son was diagnosed with Type I and passed away after only three months. There has been many advances in finding a cure for SMA but there is still work to be done. I donated today in memory of Avery and Wesley. I read Avery’s story on CNN on Monday and it touched my heart very deeply. A father of a newborn daughter myself, I cannot imagine having to endure the realities that you and your family have been faced with over the last several months. Sweet baby Avery has touched me more than I ever thought a complete stranger could. I have a beautiful 4 month old girl of my own and hearing about Avery flooded me with every emotion possible. I smiled, I cried and I was really angry. I do not have a lot, but I donated $1 for every day of this precious little ones short life. I cried when I first read about this beautiful baby and her amazing parents. I cried even more when I learned that she had passed. I have cried for her family every day since. But I have also told her story to everyone I can and I will continue to do so. Our family will try to complete as many of the items on her bucket list as we are able to, and we will think of her each time we do. I hope that once the SMA Gene Therapy goes into the SMA kids, it defeats the disease. But if it doesn’t, we will just go after it again by raising more money for another trial.
