I have pledged to raise $5,000 in honor of my son, Charleston Sage Goeppert, aka “Cash”. Cash was diagnosed with SMA type 1 at 3 months of age on March 15, 2010. We have been defeating SMA for a little over a year now, and want nothing more than to see an effective treatment and/or cure for SMA to get into clinical trials. We have looked into all avenues of potential treatments for SMA and what is currently being done by researchers around the world. Brian Kaspar’s AAV-9 gene therapy research is by far the most compelling and hopeful that I have seen. I want to see this move into clinical trials in one year, and it is terribly frustrating that this simply depends on funding. However I am determined to make this “dream” become reality for my son and all kids living daily with SMA. There is nothing that I won’t do for my son, so i have taken this upon myself to attain! We can do this together!
